PuzzleParty Terms of Service

Effective Date: July 8, 2026
Last Updated: July 8, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PuzzleParty mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App"), operated by PuzzleParty LLC ("PuzzleParty," "we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Summary (Plain-English Overview)

  • Use PuzzleParty responsibly and follow the rules below.
  • You are responsible for your account and the content you share in your parties.
  • PuzzleParty is not affiliated with the puzzle games it lets you track (such as The New York Times or LinkedIn puzzles).
  • Subscriptions and purchases are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and their refund rules apply.
  • We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms.
  • The App is provided "as is," and our liability is limited as described below.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the App, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 13 years old (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the minimum age).
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
  • You will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws.

If you are using the App on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. Your Account

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us promptly at support@puzzleparty.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • You may not share, sell, or transfer your account to anyone else.
  • One person may not maintain multiple accounts to abuse features, competitions, or scoreboards.

You may delete your account at any time. Deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

  • Violate any law or the rights of others.
  • Post, share, or transmit content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, hateful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Harass, bully, or intimidate other users, including within party chat.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, other users' accounts, or our systems.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the App or its infrastructure.
  • Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the App except as expressly permitted.
  • Submit falsified, automated, or fraudulent puzzle results to manipulate scores, streaks, or standings.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent permitted by law.

We may investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who, in our sole discretion, violates this section, including removing content and suspending or terminating accounts.

4. User-Generated Content

The App allows you to submit content, including puzzle results, scores, messages, images, party names, and profile information ("User Content").

  • You retain ownership of your User Content.
  • You grant PuzzleParty a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the App (for example, showing your results and messages to members of your parties).
  • You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to share it and that it does not violate these Terms or any law.
  • PuzzleParty has no public feed. User Content is visible only to members of the relevant party, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • We do not routinely monitor User Content but may review, remove, or restrict content that we believe violates these Terms or is reported for abuse.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any User Content you wish to retain.

5. Third-Party Puzzles and Services

PuzzleParty lets you track and compare your results for puzzle games created and operated by third parties.

  • PuzzleParty is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with The New York Times Company, LinkedIn Corporation, or any other puzzle publisher or game creator.
  • All third-party game names, trademarks, and content are the property of their respective owners. References to them are for identification and interoperability only.
  • We do not control, and are not responsible for, third-party games, their availability, their rules, or their content. Playing those games is subject to the third party's own terms and policies.
  • Puzzle results tracked in PuzzleParty are self-reported or shared by you; we do not guarantee their accuracy against the original game.
  • The App may contain links to external websites or services. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those external sites.

6. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Payments

The App offers optional paid features, including the PuzzleParty Plus subscription, as well as one-time purchases such as tips and reactions.

  • All purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. PuzzleParty does not directly collect or store your payment card information.
  • Prices are shown in the App before you complete a purchase. Applicable taxes may be added.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for the same term at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase and upon each renewal.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective policies. PuzzleParty generally cannot issue refunds directly for purchases made through those stores.
  • We may change subscription prices or the features included in paid tiers. Where required, we will give you advance notice, and price changes will not take effect until your next renewal.
  • Tips and reactions are voluntary, non-refundable purchases and do not entitle you to any guaranteed feature or service.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, logos, wordmarks, and original content (excluding User Content and third-party materials), is owned by PuzzleParty LLC and protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App except as expressly permitted.

8. Termination

  • You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access to the App, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the App, other users, or PuzzleParty.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the App ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including User Content licenses already exercised, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law — will continue to apply.

Account deletion and associated data handling are described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that puzzle results, scores, streaks, or standings will always be accurate or available. Your use of the App is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PUZZLEPARTY LLC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PuzzleParty LLC and its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the App, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email, and we will update the "Last Updated" date above.

Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which PuzzleParty LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

14. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the Privacy Policy.
